About the opportunity 

The School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Sydney is searching for faculty members at all ranks in the area of Aerospace Engineering. Our Aerospace Engineering program has research strengths in the areas of aerodynamics, avionics, smart structures, space engineering, flight dynamics, navigation and control, propulsion, rapid prototyping and unmanned aerial vehicles. We have close connections with numerous domestic and international Aerospace engineering firms and maintain a strong focus on fundamental research contributions aligned with industry engagement and impact. 

Our Aeronautical Engineering degree is one of the leading degrees of its kind offered in Australia and attracts some of the top students from around Australia and overseas.  As a member of the AMME staff, in addition to leading research you will help set the broad direction for the Aeronautical Engineering degree and deliver courses at the Undergraduate and Masters levels.  Specific areas of teaching will be determined in consultation with the Head of School and may comprise 1st and 2nd year introductory engineering units of study as well as specialist higher-level electives associated with your research area. Teaching experience in Aerospace engineering is a requirement for this position.

In order to provide further leadership in Aerospace Engineering, we are seeking to appoint one continuing academic member of staff.  Candidates with strong track records in all areas of Aerospace Engineering are encouraged to apply to help broaden our research profile and to provide leadership within the discipline.  Detailed application instructions are included below.

About you

Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent research program, engage in collaborations within and outside the University, participate in both undergraduate and graduate teaching and curriculum development, and contribute to the culture of the School and the University.

Candidates should submit a CV, a research statement and a teaching statement, and the names and email addresses of three references (for lecturer and senior lecturer positions) and six references (for associate and full professor positions). The School seeks to increase the gender equity and diversity of its faculty and strongly encourages women to apply.

Term and Remuneration

Successful candidates will be offered a continuing (permanent) appointment, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees. A competitive remuneration and startup package will be negotiated dependent on level of appointment.
