Senior Technical Officer - Robotics Systems Engineer 

  • Provide software engineering support to field of robotics
  • Located at Sydney Robotics Lab, Darlington Campus at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics
  • Full-time, Fixed term 12 months, Base Salary: Base Salary: $105,198 p.a. - $118,639 p.a. Level 8, plus a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation.  

About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Technical Officer – Robotic Systems Engineer, will be responsible for providing mechanical, electrical and systems engineering support for contract research and development (R&D) projects for ACFR.  The position will:

  • Provide expert technical advice, sound technical research support and assistance to researchers and students on robotic systems
  • Design, develop and demonstrate robotic systems and sub-systems
  • Determine robotic systems requirements for mobile and fixed applications
  • Carry out high-level systems scoping, analysis and technical requirements definition
  • Support field trials
  • Write technical reports
  • Ensure the laboratory is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

  • A tertiary degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or related field
  • Systems Engineering experience
  • Mechanical/electrical/mechatronic engineering experience
  • Sound working knowledge of safety procedures relevant to the work environment
  • Experience in writing technical documents and user manuals relating to software and processes.
  • A willingness to travel interstate for fieldwork if required.
