Senior Software Engineer

  • Provide software engineering support to field of robotics
  • Located at Little Queen Street, Darlington Campus at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics
  • Full-time, Fixed term 12 months, Base Salary: $93,986p.a. - $102,393 p.a. Level 7 plus a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation.  

About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for providing software engineering support for contract research and development (R&D) projects for ACFR.  The position will provide support and assistance to researchers and students on robotic systems with:

  • Excellent programming skills like C++, Python, Bash, Matlab, ROS.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with developing multi-threaded and/or multi-process applications as well as thorough understanding of object-oriented design.
  • Ability to work independently and drive colleagues and team members to deliver projects on time.
  • Support field trials and willingness to help others in non-software related issues as well.

  • A tertiary degree in Software Engineering or related field, with at least 3 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of agile software development and prior experience of software team lead would be a plus.
  • Sound working knowledge of safety procedures relevant to the work environment.
  • Experience in writing technical documents and user manuals relating to software and processes.
  • A willingness to travel interstate for fieldwork if required.
