Research Promotions Officer 

  • The Matilda Centre is looking for a hands-on Research Promotions Officer to provide health promotion strategies for two evidence-based national online substance use prevention portals
  • Located at the Matilda Centre, Darlington Campus
  • 12 months Fixed Term, full-time opportunity with possible extension depending upon funding and base salary $86K p.a. plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for a dynamic Research Promotions Officer to join the progressive team at the Matilda Centre based at Darlington Campus.

The Research Promotion Officer is required to engage with stakeholders to implement health promotions strategies for two evidence-based national online substance use prevention and treatment portals for the community: Positive Choices (https://positivechoices.org.au/) and Cracks in the Ice (https://cracksintheice.org.au/).

In this role you will engage and build relationships with external agencies providing marketing and communications services to the Matilda Centre. You will also be implementing, optimizing and evaluating health promotion plans for each program, including identifying opportunities to increase audience exposure and engagement. You will be responsible for developing health promotion communications for a range of channels (including websites, social media and print) and target audiences to increase awareness and engagement with Positive Choices and Cracks in the Ice.

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, public relations, communications or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.  Previous health promotion or not-for-profit experience will be highly regarded
  • demonstrated experience implementing, optimizing and evaluating promotion plans
  • demonstrated ability to write for web, social media and print, with an understanding of what constitutes good copy across all media
  • advanced written communication skills, including writing for diverse audiences and multiple communications channels along with excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • advanced digital administration and analytics skills, including Google Analytics, Hootsuite (or similar) and website content management systems

The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of mental health and substance use research, prevention and/or treatment or the ability to rapidly learn a new field to a high degree of understanding They will have exceptional communication skills along with the ability to work autonomously to complete the tasks within set timelines and budgets.
