We are seeking applications from outstanding Allied Health academic researchers for appointment to a conjoint Associate Professor or Professor position between the University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of Sydney is the largest and most comprehensive grouping of allied health professions, researchers and teachers within Australia. The faculty is a world leader in allied health research and education, and is acknowledged as a leading global hub of excellence in research and education in health sciences. The faculty is committed to research and research–led learning and teaching in a multidisciplinary context.

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is one of nineteen Local Health Districts and Specialist Health Networks in NSW. NBMLHD is responsible for providing primary, secondary and tertiary level health care for people living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith local government areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. The NBMLHD covers an area of approximately 9,000 square kilometres from Portland in the west to St Marys in the east. The District is diverse with a mix of metropolitan, regional and rural areas.

This conjoint Associate Professor or Professor position is a key component of a strategic research and education partnership between the FHS and NBMLHD. The objective of the NBMLHD and the University of Sydney Allied Health Partnership is to lead the development and implementation of the NBMLHD and the University of Sydney FHS allied health research and education strategic partnership plan. The partnership is committed to enhancing the health of people in the NBMLHD through patient centred care that is grounded in scientific evidence, sharing knowledge and skills and preparing work-ready allied health professionals. The work of this appointment will be focused on contributing to the evidence base about effective allied health services. As the successful applicant, you will work closely with NBMLHD allied health staff to build the research capacity of allied health clinicians and lead and integrate research from the FHS into NBMLHD. You will be co-located at the University of Sydney and NBMLHD and be responsible to the Dean (FHS), University of Sydney, and to the Director, Allied Health (NBMLHD).

You will work alongside a passionate team of clinicians and researchers in the various allied health disciplines and pursue a research program. The appointee will teach in their relevant field, as well as supervise postgraduate research students and contribute to FHS academic programs.

Term and remuneration

The successful applicant will be offered a 5 year fixed term as Associate Professor or Professor of Allied Health, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees, and a competitive salary package will be negotiated.
