About the opportunity 

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for a Trial Operations Coordinator to join the Perinatal and Neonatal Clinical Trial Operations at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre.

As the Trial Operations Coordinator you will provide clinical trial knowledge and expertise to the Site Investigators, Site Coordinators and works with the research team to support the clinical trial requirements for the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre. You will work closely with key stakeholders in multicenter studies that change practice and improve outcomes for pregnant women and premature babies. This includes actively contributing to trial operations, working on pre-trial procedures, setting up and organising clinical trial sites (with some supervision), archiving documents, on-site monitoring (if applicable) and correspondence. Trial Operations Coordinators manage and conduct clinical trials under the supervision of a Research Operations Lead or Program Manager.

You will be involved  working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical trial funders, collaborative group representatives, project team members, functional leads and CTC senior managers, to manage a group of clinical trials and other research projects or to manage a large single clinical trial or research project, from project start-up to delivery and closeout.

You will require very strong communications and organizational skills to coordinate and undertake a range of operational activities on an ongoing basis.

About you

• Undergraduate (BSc) or higher degree in scientific, (bio)medical or health discipline, or similar education/training and relevant experience
• minimum one year of relevant working experience in clinical site management, as clinical trial assistant, site coordinator, clinical research associate, or similar role
• knowledge of clinical trial requirements during their lifecycle from start up to close out, including a detailed understanding of the regulatory and ethical approval process across Australia
• thorough knowledge of ICH Guidelines and Good Clinical Practice
• high level computing skills including databases in a windows environment, spreadsheets and word-processing
• demonstrated ability to maintain high work standards with minimal supervision and maintain and implement SOPs
• ability and willingness to travel
• women and child health research experience is desirable

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, will have ability to work as part of team and independently.
