  • Full-time, fixed term (3 years) contract, with base salary from $84,334 to $92,053 p.a plus generous superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis department have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Scanning Electron Microscopy Specialist to join their team. As the Scanning Electron Microscopy Specialist, you will provide high level technical support to Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis’ microscope facilities, focusing primarily on the needs of users in scanning electron microscopy, microanalysis, analysis and interpretation of images and data.

About you

  • experience and expertise in scanning electron microscopy and associated specimen preparation techniques
  • skills in: focussed ion beam milling (FIB); environmental SEM (ESEM); cryo-SEM imaging; electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD); quantitative image analysis; X-ray mapping; mineral phase mapping.
  • ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments and the needs of users across the scanning microscopy area
  • outstanding verbal and written communication skills, especially in scientific communication and the preparation of reports.
