About the opportunity 

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Lecturer (level B) in the discipline of biostatistics to make a significant contribution to the School’s teaching and research programs. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Lecturer with a strong interest in biostatistics to continue their academic development with a school renowned for its high-quality research and teaching.  In particular, the position will involve working on research projects at the Centre of Kidney Research (~40%), which is located at the Westmead Precinct. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate on other research projects conducted by the School of Public Health at the Westmead Precinct. The Westmead Precinct is the largest health precinct in NSW, including of the two largest tertiary hospitals in the country. As a result, the successful applicant will need to work 2 or 3 days each week at Westmead, with the remaining days at the Camperdown Campus.

In this role you will:

• collaborate and provide statistical support to the Centre of Kidney Research (Westmead Children’s Hospital)
• teach introductory and more advanced biostatistics to postgraduate students enrolled in degrees in biostatistics, public health and clinical epidemiology, using both face to face and on-line delivery
• take on responsibility for unit of study coordination
• conduct research in biostatistics, public health or clinical epidemiology, including presentations and peer-reviewed publications
• supervise Master of Biostatistics and other postgraduate students.

About you

• a higher degree in biostatistics or applied statistics
• experience teaching biostatistics or applied statistics
• good programming skills in R and/or SAS (Python and Stata are a plus)
• good English language communication skills
• the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
• experience with online teaching (desirable)
