About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Centre Operations Manager, this role provides broad administrative support to The Matilda Centre for research in mental health and substance use, newly established at the University of Sydney in 2018. As the first point of contact for all stakeholders this role requires strong customer service and organisational skills. The role also provides a resource and point of contact for the Matilda Centre staff (currently more than 50 and growing), requiring a strong knowledge of University systems and processes, or the tenacity to identify what needs to be done, and working closely with staff at all levels ensure research, Human Resources, ICT and many other needs are met.  The key focus of this role is to ensure the effective running of the Centre, which can include managing reception, responding to queries, maintaining reports and formatting grant applications.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to provide high level administration support; this will include grant application and workshop delivery, events management, budget management, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office with particular attention to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and experience with web-based computer programs and financial systems

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and flexible administrator who will create ownership in the role to support the effective running of this new and exciting world-class research centre.
