About the opportunity 

The Clinical Trials assistant will work as part of the clinical trials research team in a support role, providing administration and data entry support to clinical trial project(s), managers and staff of one or more clinical trials or studies concurrently. May also undertake associated clerical duties for collaborative groups or CTC services.

  • demonstrated experience in basic clinical trials administration or experience in a similar field
  • basic understanding of GCP guidelines and protocol requirements for clinical trials
  • good communication skills and the ability to work as part of diverse teams
  • well-developed data entry skills.

The successful candidates will have knowledge of medical terminology and clinical trials administrative processes.

About us

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is a leading Australian Academic Research Organisation with world class international reputation for designing, conducting and translating collaborative clinical trials research into improved health care practice. CTC is also known for its innovation in clinical trials methodologies and its teaching excellence.

Clinical Trial operations staff are responsible for co-ordinating large multicentre investigator –initiated clinical trials, co-ordinating stand-alone clinical trials or participates in trials that are co-ordinated by other national and international collaborative trial groups.

Clinical Trials are co-ordinated by Project Managers or Clinical Trials Co-ordinators who are responsible for the day to day operations of the clinical trial or group of clinical trials, in accordance with the Clinical Trials Protocol. All activities are conducted in accordance with GCP guidelines and in accordance with CTC’s Standard Operating Procedures.

The Clinical Trials Assistance works under broad direction of the Program/Project Manager or Trial Co-ordinator and participates in the trial in a support role, undertaking routine and general administrative work. This role provides the opportunity to commence a career in clinical trial operations. Clinical Trials Assistants can progress (through merit selection) into clinical trials positions based upon experience and expertise in the delivery of work performed.
