Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Health

About the opportunity 

This is a research and education position for a talented, enthusiastic academic with tertiary level teaching experience and a developing national research profile. This position will have the opportunity to teach into Indigenous health units of study and also one other content area of interest

Lecturer

A Lecturer in Indigenous and Population Health is expected to be on a trajectory towards leadership in Indigenous and population health education at tertiary level and working towards making a significant contribution to the school research portfolio, ideally in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Senior Lecturer

A Senior Lecturer in Indigenous and Population Health is expected to provide leadership in Indigenous and population health education at tertiary level and to make a significant contribution to the school research portfolio, ideally in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

This role will consider applicants at either Lecturer to Senior Lecturer level.

  • Master of Philosophy or PhD in Indigenous health field or currently enrolled in either
  • Developing national research profile related to Indigenous health
  • Ability to engage with and contribute to learning and teaching activities and processes in line with Lecturer expectations including unit of study coordination
  • Relevant background in Indigenous health and Indigenous health education at tertiary level
  • High level organisational skills including an ability to manage competing demands and time effectively as well as deliver outcomes within strict timeframes
  • Registered nurse with NMBA or eligible for registration with NMBA
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative, while also making a valuable contribution as part of a wider learning and teaching team
  • Excellent relationship management skills including an ability to build and maintain ongoing collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including staff, students, external organisations and industry professionals.

Or Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Health who has:

  • Master of Philosophy or PhD in Indigenous health field or nearing completion in either
  • Established national and developing international research profile related to Indigenous health
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and contribute to learning and teaching activities and processes in line with Senior Lecturer expectations, including unit of study coordination
  • Relevant background in Indigenous health and education at tertiary level
  • Higher degree research (HDR) student supervision experience
  • High level organisational skills including an ability to manage competing demands and time effectively as well as deliver outcomes within strict timeframes
  • Registered nurse with NMBA or eligible for registration with NMBA
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative, while also making a valuable leadership contribution as part of a wider learning and teaching team
  • Excellent relationship management skills including an ability to build and maintain ongoing collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including staff, students, external organisations and industry professionals.
