  • HEO 7 position, base salary $92-100K p.a. plus leave loading and generous superannuation

About the opportunity 

This position provides multimedia based creative, academic and technical services enhancing the ability of the Faculty to deliver its teaching and research programs. 

As the successful candidate, you will apply industry best practice across a range of digital media and broadcast mediums. Working closely with academic staff and students, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the ability of the Faculty to deliver its teaching and research programs as well as the supporting infrastructure and equipment that underpins the Faculty enterprise.

The FASS Media Room is a sophisticated facility in the new Social Sciences Building with a High Definition Broadcast capability. It operates as a local link to broadcasters, both commercial and public, in order to leverage the abundant talent available within the university. It further operates as a space to create and mediate digital content for research and Learning and Teaching. It provides flexible, accoustically treated spaces for a variety of mediums and technology assets to match.

About you

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a broadcast “all-rounder” with demonstrated experience in either multicam switching, central control, studio operations, lighting camera, audio control, directing or line producing;
  • Demonstrated High level experience in shot content, including DSLR, 2k/4k, HD and broadcast equipment. Demonstrated experience in high quality camera movement (grips) and lighting;
  • Experience in:
    • Scheduling and resource allocation as Technical Director, Production Manager, Producer or Head of Department
    • Staff supervision, running a team or crew;
    • Production of audio content, especially Podcasting;
    • Asset procurement and management of budgets and accounts; and,
    • Creation and delivery of training or teaching material.

Experience in visual arts or art making spaces will is not essential but will be well regarded.

It is a student-oriented approach in which technology officers and academics work as colleagues in productive dialogue, collaborators in the creation of enriched learning environments for students, blurring the borders between teaching and research, exploring new possibilities in teaching and learning, and expanding our sense of what media and communications means in society.
