About the opportunity 

The Field Education Program manager has the key professional and administrative management role in the planning, provision and evaluation of the Field Education Program in the Social Work and Policy Studies Program, consistent with the strategic and educational direction of the Bachelor of Social Work Degree and Master of Social Work (Qualifying) Program to ensure that compliance with The University of Sydney policies and procedures and the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accreditation guidelines are met. The Field Education Program Manager anchors the Field Education programme by continuous communication, negotiation, monitoring and administration of student field education involving academic coordinators, the university, external agencies, service users and students.

In this position, you will:

  • manage and organise all aspects of student placements including identifying and addressing gaps
  • manage and maintain relationships with existing and new Field Educators
  • develop and manage strategic and communication plans aimed at ensuring the highest quality of field education for students and field education organisations
  • manage compliance with relevant policies and legislation, including Vaccinations/Health Cards, Working with Children Check, Police Checks and and WHS.

  • tertiary qualifications in Social Work and equivalent relevant experience, preferably in a University or Health and Human Services Environment. Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Association of Social Work
  • experience working within a team to identify and develop resources and manage placements aimed at ensuring the highest quality of field education for students and field education organisations
  • demonstrated professional knowledge and skills in transformational learning as well as adult learning principles in order to manage diverse and complex requirements
  • demonstrated professional knowledge and skills in the area of social work field education as well as social work student and professional supervision.
