About the opportunity
Our team is a multidisciplinary research team with backgrounds in Addiction Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Psychopharmacology and Public Health. Our research investigates the management and treatment of alcohol use disorders and comorbid physical and mental disorders, supported by NHMRC and other competitive sources.
Our work covers a range of areas including interventions (clinical trials of pharmacotherapy, psychosocial interventions), discovery and mechanisms of addictive behaviours (neuroimaging) and translation into practice.
A junior postdoctoral researcher is required to contribute to these projects and/or develop their own research area depending on interest and expertise. The successful candidate will also be required to coordinate the development of the National Guidelines for the Treatment of Alcohol Problems. This is a valuable opportunity to expand your research skills and collaborative network.

About us
The NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Substance Use and Mental Health is co-located in the Discipline of Addiction Medicine at the University of Sydney. The Alcohol Treatment Research team is led by Prof Paul Haber and managed by A/Prof Kirsten Morley. The team works in partnership with several clinical services and stakeholders and is in engaged in numerous research projects, policy and practice. As an integral member of the team, this postdoctoral position will coordinate the development of the alcohol treatment guidelines and work on research projects investigating effective treatments for alcohol use disorder.
