About the opportunity

Reporting to the Research Administration Manager, the successful candidate will be part of the Quantum Science professional team as well as a national wide EQUS administration network. The incumbent will provide a broad range of administrative support under general direction with responsibilities including preparing documents, maintaining records, organising events, updating web materials, responding to queries, exploring matters, and sourcing solutions for the Sydney Node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS). As the first point of contact for the office, this role requires strong administrative and organisational skills to coordinate and undertake operational activities on an ongoing basis.

  • Certificate IV in business administration or equivalent with relevant business administration experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel. Familiar with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Yammer)
  • Strong experience in events coordination

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) is based at the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney is a large node within the Centre. The EQUS is a research collaboration between the University of Queensland, the University of Sydney, Macquarie University, the Australian National University and the University of Western Australia. It is aiming to build sophisticated quantum machines to harness the quantum world for practical applications in the fields of medicine, material science and engineering. The EQUS supports over 200 researchers, professional staff and students.

This position will be part of the Quantum Science professional team as well as a national wide EQUS administration network. It is a three-year part-time position (0.6 FTE) with possible extension based on performance and funding availability.
