About the opportunity 

An opportunity has become available for a Committee Officer to work within the University Secretariat in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal. 

Reporting directly to the Manager of Governance and Deputy Secretary to Senate, the role will provide high level secretariat support and advice to the Committees of Senate, University Executive (UE), and Academic Board.  As the Committee Officer, you will provide high level secretariat support to the various committees and ensure the effective and appropriate coordination of all academic and governance matters affecting the University.

  • servicing senior committees
  • the understanding of higher education management and related issues
  • the ability to prioritise work consistently, whilst under pressure with competing deadlines
  • recognising   priorities and understanding the interlocking responsibilities of the management and governance committee.

The Vice-Chancellor, in consultation with the Senate, University Executive Group (UE) and Academic Board, leads the University and determines its overall direction. The Vice-Chancellor works with UE to prioritise the University’s many diverse activities and ensures that the University remains focused on achieving its essential purpose of promoting scholarship, research, enquiry, the interaction of research and teaching, and the achievement of academic excellence.

The Secretariat supports this through the provision of an integrated secretarial function that delivers a cohesive and coordinated secretariat support to the University’s senior decision making bodies.
