About the opportunity 

The role of the Research Contract Administration Officer is to provide high level management of research contracts and agreements, and support the processes for identifying, assigning responsibility, negotiating, executing and managing research contracts.

The Research Contract Administrator Officer will:

  • under broad direction from the Senior Unit Manager take responsibility for University wide administrative processes and procedures for assigned research contracts and agreements
  • manage and coordinate the execution process for contacts and agreements with assigned research funding providers
  • prepare all necessary forms and correspondence and provide advice to staff on University and funding provider policies and procedures
  • collaborate with members of the Research Grants team to systematically review administrative procedures

This opportunity is for multiple full-time, fixed term positions until 31st December 2018.

  • tertiary qualifications or a combination of relevant experience and/or training
  • demonstrated experience of administering complex grant funding schemes including contract management and execution processes in a high volume environment with strict deadlines
  • excellent analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply attention to detail
  • the ability to plan, prioritise, and organise workload; to develop, implement and review procedures and policies; and to interpret policy and provide advice using own body of knowledge and experience
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge and understanding of national and international research funding opportunities, processes and policies

Commercial Development & Industry Partnerships (CDIP) is the University’s first call of port for strategic industry engagement and provision of innovation and technology transfer services by identifying, protecting, translating and supporting the exchange of knowledge and expertise generated at the University.  CDIP works in close collaboration with the other DVCR teams, in particular with the Research Development & Collaboration and the Research Grants & Contracts teams to maximize efficiency and ensuring that sought outcomes are effectively identified and delivered.
