About the opportunity
The counsellor role entails the provision of one-to-one psychological counselling to University students, the development of group workshop programs, developing and delivering training programs and liaison with the administrative and faculty arms of the University. The role includes participation in building the Service’s profile and its capacity to work strategically, collaboratively and effectively with key stakeholders.

Student Support Services assist students’ achievement of educational goals, retention and success at University through personal, financial and instrumental support, and through encouraging development of independence and personal resilience. Student Support Services act as a point of contact for the University and Faculty regarding support for students, dealing with complex student presentations, and for advice regarding policy and procedure developments and the likely impact on student wellbeing.
Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) focuses on promoting student well-being, and the development of skills required to succeed at university across the student life-cycle. The clinical interventions provided are time-limited and based on recognised best psychological practice. It also works on partnerships and collaborative programs with faculties and other student service providers in order to further enhance student resilience and success.
