About the opportunity 

Sydney Medical School - Northern is part of the University's Faculty of Medicine, the largest and most comprehensive grouping of health and medical education and research in the Asia Pacific region.  Within the School is an organic network of individuals, research groups and centres that aim to conduct outstanding, high impact research, and participate effectively in professional, governmental and community activities.

The Rheumatology Research division within Sydney Medical School - Northern is part of the partnership between the University and the Royal North Shore Hospital. Our aim is to conduct practice- and policy-relevant epidemiological research, as well as basic research, to improve musculoskeletal health. The Rheumatology Department is devoted to advancing our understanding of the disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, their diagnosis and treatments.

The purpose of this role is to assist the Project Lead (Chair of Rheumatology) with grant action that includes facilitating participants screening and recruitment, compliance, data entry and some administration.

About you

  • a degree in Health Sciences/ Nursing
  • Highly developed interpersonal, oral, written and electronic communication skills applied in a range of settings
  • excellent computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office, Excel including previous experience in data collection and data handling
  • experience in working on clinical trial projects including expertise of clinical trial protocols is desirable
  • demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a clinical or research setting
  • sharp attention to detail and evidence of ability to adhere strictly to protocol and working guidelines
  • superior ability to show initiative, work autonomously and under pressure, and to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • thorough understanding of human research ethics principles as per ICH- GCP guidelines
  • phlebotomy skills
  • demonstrated high-level conceptual and problem-solving skills.
