About the opportunity 

The Faculty of Health Sciences is the largest health sciences faculty in Australia. It is internationally recognised for quality and innovation in teaching and research. The Faculty consists of seven disciplines, eight areas of research strength and four research centres. The Faculty provides professional preparation programs for a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate allied health professions, as well as a general degree in health sciences. The Faculty has approximately 250 academic staff, 100 professional staff and 4,500 students.

Reporting to the Faculty General Manager, the Project Officer will plan, initiate and implement all aspects of the Cumberland Exit Project to allow the smooth relocation of the faculty to the new Susan Wakil AO Health Building. As the successful candidate, you will provide project management oversight and undertake a broad range of activities to ensure the project progresses in a timely manner and meets established milestones and deliverables. This includes establishing project deliverables, developing and implementing plans, coordinating and undertaking the implementation and delivery of all activities and tasks related to the project, and preparing status reports in line with broader project governance requirements. You will also manage stakeholders and communications, ensuring effective collaboration and team work with other project streams in the Relocation Program which supports the Faculty’s relocation to Camperdown campus in late 2019.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant work experience, and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  • demonstrated experience in planning, time management and project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multi-faceted projects or programs with strict and/or conflicting deadlines
  • demonstrated high level problem solving skills with the ability to consider options and make recommendations, as well as taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of the project implementation
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
  • excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, develop and build relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • effective management a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with external providers, central University services and key stakeholders
  • self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • excellent administrative skills including accuracy and attention to detail, together with a good understanding of the project life cycle, project management documentation, standards and methodologies, and budgeting skills
  • previous experience in office or building relocation and facilities management and experience working in the higher education/tertiary sector will be an added advantage.
