About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Research and working closely with Core Research Facilities and Research Development and Collaboration, the role will be a key driver in the engagement with the NCRIS eresearch capabilities, and aligning them to our key technology services and research facilities. You will help ideate, develop and deliver externally-funded collaborative eresearch roadmaps and projects with the university’s NCRIS capabilities. The role will also engage with and work closely with the research community to deliver projects and new services/capabilities for researchers who rely heavily on the processing, management and retrieval of data.

This engagement will require leadership in data management, data-processing pipelines and occur at a range of levels, including: providing advice and consulting; support via commercial software packages or collaboration in developing and implementing custom algorithms and workflows with University of Sydney IT and informatics expertise.

  • develops eresearch projects for the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF) and National Imaging Facility (NIF) and participate in relevant national initiatives
  • provides comprehensive expert data management advice and recommendations for the conceptualisation, analysis and dissemination of findings, to ensure project objectives are met
  • manages project stakeholders and collaborates with project teams to ensure that project deliverables and milestones are achieved
  • writes business cases and funding applications for eresearch projects
  • ability to work in a complex and challenging environment.

You will provides subject matter expertise and overall guidance to drive the uptake of eresearch capabilities in the University’s key centers and facilities. As the key point of contact for the NCRIS engagement at a practical, research development and design level, you will be bringing your extensive eresearch expertise to ensure successful project outcomes across the University. You will influence stakeholders to adopt new systems and ways of working, implement overall project objectives provide effective management of activities and deliverables to ensure milestones and deliverables are realised. You will manage stakeholders and communications to ensure effective collaboration and team work with other project teams and services.
