About the opportunity
The ForeFront Research Group at the Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney is committed to identifying earlier detection of and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, and to understand their underlying disease mechanisms. To achieve this, ForeFront conducts research studies across a number of research clinics and laboratories that generate diverse datasets stored in a variety of databases.
At present these datasets are not held in appropriate University of Sydney data storage sites, and are not readily accessible. This position is to assist with data transfers and quality assurance of data, as well as to assist in preparing data for adequate analyses.
Reporting to Professor Glenda Halliday, we are seeking a Research Assistant who will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to the team and perform the research activity for the work area. You will assist with neuropathological research on neurodegenerative disorders which includes preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members, performing fundamental aspects of research work, and facilitating the efficient operation of the research laboratory by providing essential technical and operational support.
The incumbent will be expected to coordinate the activities associated with research projects, and work towards ensuring that experiments and related activities are prepared for and run smoothly. When working in a laboratory, this may also include responsibility for any lab work carried out by students, providing teaching support and preparing equipment for experiments that are carried out.
