About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Faculty General Manager, Faculty of Science and operating in a complex environment, you will provide operational leadership for the School, including overall management and delivery of core research, academic and education support services to achieve the overarching mission and objectives of the University.

As the most senior professional staff member in the School, with a day-to-day reporting line to the Head of School, you will collaborate to manage the development of strategy, policy and planning across the School and its related entities. You will have responsibility for the broad management of operational and administrative systems, processes and programs, to meet School requirements.

In this position, you will:

  • manage translation and implementation of relevant parts of the Faculty’s strategy and business plan for the School.
  • provide operational leadership for the School and its related entities.
  • maintain governance and control and key compliance requirements for the School.
  • manage the efficient utilisation and deployment of resources for the School and its related entities.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of a group of staff with a range of skillsets; and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of complex HR issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate and implement strategic initiatives into local operational practices that enhance the performance of the work area.
  • Effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement when working in a complex environment.
  • Excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated experience in prioritising workload, managing and leading large projects to budget, managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines and achieving required outcomes.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving complex matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
