The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry has been training dental practitioners for over a hundred years. The faculty offers a rigorous research and training program and produces research scholars of international standing and highly skilled general practice and specialist clinicians.

We are seeking to appoint a Professor, Population Oral Health to join the faculty. You will lead Population Oral Health research and teaching and work closely with the Chair, Lifespan Oral Health. In this position, you will:

  • lead research and teaching in Population Oral Health in the Faculty of Dentistry with consideration of NSW Health initiatives
  • work closely with NSW Health’s Centre for Oral Health Strategy and State Oral Health Executive to develop a research strategy aligned to State needs and faculty priorities. Takes a leadership role in reviewing NSW health research related to oral health
  • integrate Population Oral Health activities across health including a focus on prevention, managing disadvantaged and vulnerable community groups’ health, and cost-effective services

The Population Oral Health Discipline is based primarily at Westmead Hospital. Teaching in Population Oral Health is across multiple sites, including Westmead, Sydney Dental Hospital and the main University of Sydney campuses. There are exceptional opportunities for research collaboration at Westmead, across the University and the broader scientific community.

This appointment offers an outstanding opportunity to lead the way in optimising the oral health of the nation through excellence in research, clinical placement, population oral health relationships and teaching.

Term

The successful applicant will be offered a five year appointment on a full-time basis, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees, and be offered an attractive remuneration package.
