The Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF) is a national grid of university-based microscopy and microanalysis laboratories, that is led by the University of Sydney, and which provides world­ class instrumentation and expertise in nanostructural characterisation capability to researchers in Australia and overseas.

We are currently recruiting for an AMMRF Chief Operating Officer who will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operations, leadership and management of the AMMRF and assisting the Executive Director achieve best practice in collaborative research infrastructure outcomes and performance.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • effective team leadership ability
  • high-level strategic planning skills and ability to develop plans that put strategy into action to achieve desired outcomes
  • capacity to conceptualise and develop strategic partnerships nationally and internationally
  • ability to prepare complex project plans and compliance reports for government and institutional stakeholders
  • experience in the preparation, monitoring and analysis of budgets and financial statements
  • ability to initiate and manage relationships with senior government stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • knowledge of microscopy and microanalysis techniques or characterisation more generally.
