In its short history, the United States Studies Centre (USSC) at the University of Sydney has established itself as an internationally recognised authority on American studies outside of the United States. Spanning the study of politics and policy, economics and business, culture and society, the Centre fulfils its mission through education, research, public outreach, and policy development initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) USSC, the Director of Operations will support the CEO and the Board, ensuring that the Centre’s operational and financial performance is effective and aligned with the Centre’s strategic direction.  You will support decision making in areas of operations, administration, cost management, human resources, governance and strategic planning.

Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a strong focus on driving operational improvements; this is an outstanding opportunity to be a key leader in an environment that enjoys a culture of shared leadership, mutual respect and a collaborative working environment.

To succeed you will demonstrate strong business acumen, an aptitude for problem solving and expertise in delivery of a complex array of services and programs, preferably in a higher education or “Think Tank” environment.  You will possess tertiary qualifications in a business related discipline and substantial experience in a similar general operations management role. Work experience or education gained in the USA including a sound knowledge of USA affairs will be highly regarded.
