The School of Civil Engineering excels in research and teaching primarily in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluids and environmental engineering, and project management.

We are seeking a School Administration Officer to manage and provide senior administrative support in the areas of Finance, HR and Student administration. You will provide support for all aspects of the school’s external teaching contracts, casual contracts and consultancy agreements.  You will also manage and coordinate the project schedules for students’ field trips locally and internationally. Utilising extensive administrative experience you will: prepare documents, financial spreadsheets, respond to complex queries, explore matters, and source efficient solutions.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • tertiary qualifications in business administration and/or equivalent relevant experience in business administration
  • Human Resource and/or Financial administration experience
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • high level of computer skills in MS Office (particularly excel), database usage, Internet and email programs
  • strong problem solving skills, high attention to detail and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement when prioritising workloads during busy periods.

Highly desirable:

  • working knowledge of financial software programs such as Fraedom and Peoplesoft
  • experience using databases, eg. SydneyStudent
  • administrative experience in a tertiary organisation, working knowledge of academic institutions, structures and the higher education sector.
