The Sydney West Translational Cancer Research Centre (SW-TCRC) was established in 2011 with grant funding from the Cancer Institute NSW. It is multi-site consortium composed of Multi-Disciplinary Teams of the Sydney West Cancer Network which includes cancer services at Westmead, Nepean, Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospitals. The SW-TCRC also includes cancer research groups of the Westmead Millennium Institute for Medical Research, the Westmead node of the Melanoma Institute Australia, and other affiliated clinical and research groups involved in cancer care and research in western Sydney.

We are currently seeking a Manager for the SW-TCRC to provide general management of all administrative and operational aspects of the SW-TCRC, including planning, budgeting and delivery of outcomes to meet the program’s key performance indicators. Drawing on their expertise in research and management, the incumbent will play an active role in setting priorities for the program, liaising with key stakeholders, and coordinating research and educational activities. The manager will report on the progress of the program to the SW-TCRC Executive and external funding bodies and collaborate with clinical and research professionals to achieve the goals of the program.

You will require:

  • postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a health science related field and/or management, or similar relevant qualifications and experience
  • experience working in public sector health care and/or biomedical research setting
  • experience and demonstrated ability in the management of complex projects including management of budget, record keeping, interaction with personnel at all levels and in different organisations
  • demonstrated ability to complete complex tasks with a high level of competency and on time
  • demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and record keeping skills
  • able to work independently and as a member of a team.

Desirable:

  • experience in the conduct of laboratory, translational or clinical cancer research
  • demonstrated ability to lead, liaise with, and/or influence a diverse group of people to achieve a common goal.
