The Division of Natural Sciences is one of seven divisions operating within the University.  It includes the Faculties of Science, Agriculture and Environment and Veterinary Science.  With 6,500+ students, 1,008 FTE staff, and 26.1% and 18.6% of University research and teaching income respectively, the Division is large and complex in its structure. The Division of Natural Sciences also includes seven large schools, and the Unit for the History and Philosophy of Science within the Faculty of Science.

Working closely with the Division’s Deans, Heads of School/Departments and the General Manager, we are seeking a Manager, Compliance and Risk to provide a strategic service, including interpretation and communication of legislation related to the University’s operations, and high level advice regarding all aspects of current or potential compliance issues, so that leadership will continue to reach high standards in managing risk, while continuing to meet the regulatory requirements.

To qualify you will have:

  • excellent knowledge of the Australian Standards for Risk Management and Compliance Programs and the regulatory framework of particular significance to the Division and its operations
  • ability to recognise and appropriately deal with issues under a Code of Conduct
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to work under pressure and to use initiative
  • tertiary qualifications (Business degree majoring in Accounting, Finance or Management or Law degree or other degree relevant to the sound management of entities).

Knowledge of the higher education, research or not for profit sectors and experience within Sciences would be advantageous. Competitive remuneration available for candidates with preferred skills and experience.
