The Executive Director, Research Operations Coordination & Systems Planning (ED ROC&SP) is a pivotal position reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research (DVCR) with responsibility for leading the coordinated and integrated administration of three portfolio groups; Research Grants & Contracts, Research Integrity & Ethics Administration, Research Reporting, Analysis, Data & Systems. 

The ED ROC&SP will ensure effective governance and high standards of service delivery to the research community while pursuing continual improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of services and programs through systematic analysis and redesign of research grants, contracts, integrity and ethics processes, supported by appropriate ICT business systems. The ED ROC&SP also takes lead responsibility for the development and maintenance of research performance data capture, analysis and reporting systems to enable benchmarking of the University’s research performance and evidenced based decisions on research strategies.

To be considered, you will demonstrate:

  • extensive experience in developing and operationalising strategies that enable excellent research performance
  • extensive senior management experience effectively leading an outcomes-based organisation and staff delivering a complex array of services and programs
  • exceptional ability to think strategically, anticipate trends and incorporate them into the organisational plan
  • exceptional capacity for managing and leading people and the ability to develop high–performing teams
  • demonstrated experience and effectiveness engaging with external stakeholders to influence policies, processes and systems
  • demonstrated high level commitment to quality services and programs and data driven research program evaluation and reporting.

Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of Australian higher education policy frameworks and their relationship to research performance indicators and funding. Essential to this position are relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant relevant knowledge and experience.

Position is full time, fixed term up to 5 years.
