The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry has been training dental practitioners for over one hundred years. The faculty offers a rigorous research and training program and produces research scholars of international standing and highly skilled dental practitioners through the Bachelor of Oral Health, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Clinical Dentistry and other advanced learning courses.

The Chair of Lifespan Oral Health will lead inter- and intra- faculty research and education focusing on links between oral and systemic health. The Chair will facilitate expansion and integration of current oral systemic health research activities with the objective of enhancing wellbeing in the population.

In this role you will:

  • provide overarching academic leadership in oral-systemic health research and education activities within the University of Sydney and its partner organisations, drawing together existing research teams to share and collaborate both internally in faculty and across the University, and State Health and other partners
  • lead, plan, implement and evaluate cutting-edge research programs in oral-systemic health, aligned to Faculty of Dentistry and Charles Perkins Centre (CPC) strategies
  • mentor the academic development of younger research colleagues in oral-systemic health research
  • attract competitive funding for oral-systemic health research
  • contribute to the strategic direction of the Faculty of Dentistry and CPC in their visions of embedding research and education within health to ensure optimal patient outcomes and community health.

TERM & REMUNERATION

The appointment will be full-time fixed term for five years. A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Relocation assistance may also be provided.
