The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry has been training dental practitioners for over one hundred years. The faculty offers a rigorous research and training program and produces research scholars of international standing and highly skilled general practice and specialist clinicians.

We are seeking to appoint a senior academic from any dentistry discipline, for a fixed term period of three years, to act as Pro-Dean - Academic Development. This is a critical appointment to support the future development of the faculty at a time of great change, and to exercise academic leadership, and enhancement of the research and teaching endeavours of the faculty.

In this role you will:

  • work with the Dean, Faculty General Manager and Associate Deans to further develop the strategic plan for the faculty in line with the direction of the University, and navigate its implementation through collegial dialogue with faculty members and stakeholders, and play a key role in integration of this strategy
  • lead internal conversations that promote cross faculty and external shared understanding, mutual benefit and commitment to action
  • lead negotiation with NSW Health and Local Health Districts to develop an agreement for hospital staff to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across disciplines; establish conjoint appointments to share teaching, research and clinical service; and facilitate the consolidation of the faculty into the Westmead Precinct
  • contribute, through your own research and education strengths, to the faculty’s research and education activities.

TERM & REMUNERATION

The appointment will be full-time fixed term for three years. A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Relocation assistance may also be provided.
