The Pain Management Research Institute (PMRI) is a joint initiative between the University of Sydney and the Royal North Shore Hospital. A division of the Kolling Institute of Medical Research, the PMRI is a global leader in research focused on pain. It comprises basic and translational researchers, and many members directly involved in clinical treatment, research and education programs.

We seek to appoint a new Chair of Pain Medicine where you will be appointed to the Northern Clinical School in the Discipline of Pain Medicine, as the academic Head of Pain Medicine at The Northern Clinical School, Royal North Shore and Ryde Hospital.

You will teach in the University of Sydney Medical Program; actively conduct and contribute to research in an area of special interest; supervise postgraduate research students; supervise and coordinate the work and training of clinical fellows and registrars within Royal North Shore Hospital; and undertake other postgraduate teaching. You will also have acute and elective clinical service responsibilities in pain medicine and lead the ongoing development of pain services.

As the successful candidate, you will provide: overarching academic and clinical leadership in pain medicine within the Royal North Shore Hospital, Kolling Institute and Northern Clinical School; lead, plan, implement and evaluate cutting-edge research programs in pain medicine; mentor the academic development of younger research colleagues in pain medicine; participate in the teaching of medical students and the training of postgraduate staff in areas relevant to pain medicine; attract competitive funding for pain medicine research; and contribute to the strategic direction of the Kolling Institute in its vision of embedding research and education within health to ensure optimal patient outcomes and community health.

TERM & REMUNERATION

The appointment is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
