The Operational Capability Division has been undergoing an exciting transformation designed to improve ambulance response to the Victorian community and the health, wellbeing and capability of staff. Within that context, the Commencing Practice Lead is responsible for leading the delivery of courses and continued clinical education for Ambulance Victoria's operational workforce.

About the role

The responsibilities of this ongoing, full-time role, reporting to the Manager, Commencing & Continuing Education, will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working collaboratively with the Continuing Education Lead in understanding the pedagogy and context of curriculum and ensuring the education programs are delivered across AV to their intended scope, level, and objectives
  • Ensuring both new and existing programs are delivered across AV to their intended scope, level, and objectives: Graduate Ambulance Paramedic (GAP) and its variations, Driving Standards, Regaining Authority to Practice (RATP) and Clinical Instructor courses
  • Overseeing the management of student processes concerning pastoral care, assessment systems, and appeals/complaints pertaining to specific training and education programs
  • Providing expert advice and recommendations on issues relating to education, program needs and innovations, both internally and externally and developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of education programs
  • Implementing and managing approved plans within budget parameters and time frames and develop strategies to reduce costs against the approved budget
  • Leading and managing staff to drive superior business outcomes

About you

The successful candidate will have prior management experience in an operational environment, supported by a relevant qualification or significant experience in education and/or training, including registration with AHPRA.  In order to enable success in this role, they will possess demonstrated knowledge in and experience with workplace training and education systems, frameworks and strategy and flexible alternatives for the delivery of education and training.  They will also have the experience and ability to drive and implement process improvement, organisational change and identify proactive solutions.  Finally, applicants will be well versed in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

Applicants should be strong communicators and great relationship builders. 

The successful candidate must also hold a current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria when required.

AV has introduced salary bands and this position is graded at AV5.  The AV grade salary range for an AV5 position is $116,916 to $138,214 plus 9.5% superannuation.
