This is an outstanding opportunity to work in one of the most senior roles of this nature in the WA Public Sector in an exciting and challenging time of significant strategic and structural reform. This key executive leadership role reports to the Director General and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the Department's workforce is able to supply the delivery of education that meets the needs of Western Australians now and in the future.
The Department of Education is Western Australia's largest employer with approximately one third of the Government workforce in nearly 800 worksites across the state. The Department's annual budget is over $4.5 billion. This represents approximately 26% of the WA State Public Sector's budget. The Department is currently undergoing significant reform and public schools have been through their biggest reform in decades.
To be successful you will need to be an accomplished executive capable of delivering the full suite of human resource, employee relations and organisation development services to a large and complex organisation. Identifying and being responsive to opportunities to improve service delivery and meet staffing needs in schools will be critical to the role. An understanding of IR/ER systems and the ability to analyse workforce planning data and identify strategic priorities will be important.
