This is a part-time Working from Home (WFH) position with flexible working hours. (approx 22 + hours per week Pro Rata Salary. The position can be based anywhere in Australia

ABOUT US

The Humour Foundation is a national organisation. Our head office “Clowncentral”  is based in Pymble (Sydney) NSW. 

The Humour Foundation truly believes laughter is the best medicine. We are a growing national charity, with a unique brand and impact, focused on delivering the therapeutic benefits of laughter and joy where it is unexpected, but most needed. 

Our Clown Doctor program works primarily with sick children in hospital and our Laughter Care program works with the elderly and people with dementia in aged care facilities. 

We work in partnership with patients, residents and their families, hospital staff, medical professionals, health and aged care services  to deliver the numerous benefits of research-driven physiological and psychological impacts of laughter and wellbeing within health care settings.

THE ROLE:

The Research Officer assists in the development and coordination of The Humour Foundation's research programs.  Investigating the methodologies and impact of our Clown Doctor and Laughter Care programs, building stronger working relationships with medical and facility partners and providing information that assists us to determine new and best application of THF programs. This position reports to the Artistic Director and works in partnership with the National Programs Manager and Head of Fundraising and Marketing. 

Essential Criteria:

  • Passionate about the role of the arts in health
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in education, social policy, social science or public health
  • Experience in program evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write research reports and present research findings.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience in development and implementation of evaluation tools.
  • Experience in research and data analytics.
  • Experience in data collection and management.
  • A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and multitask.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, proactive attitude to work.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Research experience to honours level or higher in the health care sector, in particular pediatric hospitals and/or aged care.
  • Experience in the for-purpose or not-for-profit sector
  • Working knowledge of research software.
