About the role
We have an opportunity for a Learning and Development Officer to be part of our Education & Training team. The Learning and Development Officer provides a key support and advisory service within Education and Training Command, servicing the whole of NSW Police Force. The role affords proficiency in the systems approach to training, specifically analysis, design and development, delivery and total quality management of learning and development products.

Working within the Curriculum Design in Learning Innovation provides the opportunity to showcase educational best practice. As the leaders in educational practice within NSWPF, the team is integral to developing effective and modern learning that supports the capability of units throughout the organisation. Whilst working within a structure and process, members of the team have the freedom to create and design modern and innovative learning for a wide variety of different areas of policing.

Essential requirements

  • Obtain and maintain the requisite security clearance for this role.
  • TAE 40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) – superseded by TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in developing adult learning products (nationally recognised training (VET) as well as non-regulated activities).
  • Sound understanding of educational technology and online learning.
  • Knowledge of the Australian Core Skills Framework, the Australian Qualifications Framework, and the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in utilising a systems approach to training, including the ADDIE Model

Explain how you would design learning in a subject area that is unfamiliar to you to engage learners and ensure deep learning. You may choose to provide an example of how you have done this in the past. 
Target Question 2:
Explain how you would design learning to incorporate technology using a blended learning approach in a face to face learning environment to increase learner participation, interest and understanding in subject areas that are policy or legislation based. You may choose to provide an example of how you have done this in the past.

Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check and obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
This recruitment may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future roles (ongoing or temporary) that may arise over the next 12 months.
