Director, Operations and Infrastructure & Chief Financial Officer (State Library - NSW)

Location: Sydney The State Library of New South Wales is an Executive Agency of the NSW Department of Planning and Environment. The State Library of New South Wales is one of Australia’s oldest and most important public institutions. Its rich collections, both physical and digital, alongside partnerships with the public library network across NSW and other vibrant collaborations enable Australians to examine their past and imagine their future. The Operations & Infrastructure Division provides strategic leadership, advice and solutions that deliver outstanding service throughout the Library. The Division is responsible for a range of corporate services that enable and measure overall organisational improvement. Key functional areas include financial planning and management, human resource management, industrial relations, work health and safety, records management, privacy, freedom of information, security, facilities management and built infrastructure development. The Division provides crucial support and identifies appropriate strategies and benchmarks for performance and improvement.

Primary purpose of the role:
The Director, Operations and Infrastructure & Chief Financial Officer leads and directs the Operations & Infrastructure Division which consists of a suite of core internal shared services that support the Library and its operations, resources and assets and, as Chief Financial Officer, assume responsibility for the effective development and management of the Library’s financial planning, performance monitoring and budgeting function. Essential requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional CPA certification.
  • Experience in developing and managing the preparation and analysis of complex financial information and in developing and managing significant budgets and major assets.
  • Experience in strategic thinking and planning and in business transformation.
  • Experience in the implementation of organisational risk management and audit and compliance frameworks, including the establishment and monitoring of business continuity plans.
  • Criminal history record and probity checks.

Role status:
This constitutes ongoing employment under section 43 of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013, and the role is based in Sydney.
