The Queensland budget has effectively frozen recurrent funding for non-government schools, and cut more than 40 services for children at school.

Annual recurrent funding for non-government schools has been increased by just 0.4 per cent from $521,116 million to $523,107 million.

However $200 million has been allocated to upgrade ageing state schools.

Queensland Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said overall education spending had risen by 4 per cent compared with 2011-12 levels.
