Tens of thousands of people have turned out to protest for educational reform in Chile.

The demonstration was organised to allow legions of students to make sure their demands were heard.

Andrés Fielbaum, the president of the Chilean Student Federation said before the protest that a document was to be released detailing the students’ demands for a better education system.

This central document set to be published in the next few days compiles what we have historically demanded as a student movement for years,” Fielbaum told The Santiago Times.

“Therefore, its principal desire is that education is not for-profit — that it is democratized and that it is free... [people] understand that the problems with education are not just hurting students... it is society as a whole that must work together to change it.”
