The 2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has been released.

The table put together by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy is based on transparent methodology and objective third-party data. 

The Chinese rankings are considered a precursor of global university rankings, scrutinising over 2,500 institutions to publish its list of the best 1000 universities in the world.

Harvard University tops the ranking list for the 20th year. 

Stanford University remains in second place, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which rose one position to third place. 

Other top 10 universities are Cambridge (4th), Berkeley (5th), Princeton (6th), Oxford (7th), Columbia (8th), Caltech (9th), and Chicago (10th).

In the Oceania region, the University of Melbourne (32th) has topped other universities for twelve consecutive years since 2011.

This year, the University of Queensland has entered the top 50, rising four places to 47th.
