The Federal Government has called on quality organisations to apply for around $350 million in grant funding to assist in delivering professional development and inclusion support for early childhood education and care services.

 

The Federal government’s funding aims to assist staff in the sector improve on existing skill sets and improve access to support for centres to improve services for children with additional needs.

 

“Research from around the world tells us that if we provide young children with a great education from day one, they are much more likely to live happier, healthier and more productive lives,” Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care, Kate Ellis, said

 

Ms Ellis said the Australian Government has and will continue to make changes to the grants program to ensure it is targeted at providing the support the early childhood sector needs.

“Over the past 18 months we have consulted with those who work in the sector and based on their feedback, we’ve made important changes to the grants program to make it more effective and to better meet the needs of early childhood education and care staff regardless of the location of their service.
