Federal Minister for Tertiary Education, Senator Chris Evans, has announced the 152 university adademics and professional staff to be recognised under the prestigious Citation Awards.

 

Awarded to staff for devewloping innovative programs, including new teaching models, the awards focus on those staff and academics who improve and enrich student experiences and learning.

 

"These Citation Awards re-affirm the crucial role teachers and staff play delivering quality education and improving the student learning experience in Australian universities," Senator Evans said.

 

"A university education is about more than text books and exams - these initiatives will improve the overall learning experience which is necessary for students to participate successfully in higher education.

 

Individuals and teams from 38 universities across Australia received their honours through the Government's Australian Awards for University Teaching program. 

The Citations recognise a diverse range of teaching contributions, including: 

  • developing innovative curricula and resources in Chinese language and culture;
  • improving the numeracy skills of engineering students;
  • developing practice ready veterinary graduates; and
  • sustaining quality practices in teaching and learning with technology.

 

The Citations will be presented at five ceremonies around the country over the coming months.
