About the role

The Gladys M Brawn Memorial Fellowship Scheme was established in 1995 to provide fellowships to scholars who are or have demonstrated the potential to become world-recognised academics or clinicians in medicine or related disciplines, in order to promote research and study in that particular discipline. 

Applications are now invited from outstanding mid-career researchers who are currently funded by non-renewable fellowships (e.g. NHMRC Career Development Fellow) and who, at the end of their current fellowship, are likely to be highly competitive for a renewable research fellowship (e.g. NHMRC Research Fellow). Applicants can be working in any area of research strength within health and medicine.

The Gladys M Brawn Memorial Career Development Fellowship will provide:

  1. A grant-in-aid of $20,000 per annum for the duration of the non-renewable fellowship.
  2. A salary safety net of 1 year salary up to a maximum of the top of Level C (subject to performance).
  3. In exceptional circumstances, a 2nd year of salary safety net may be provided subject to approval based on performance.

Skills and experience

To be considered for the Fellowship, you will have:

  • a Doctoral qualification;
  • be currently funded by a non-renewable fellowship with at least two (2) years remaining at the time of application;
  • proven track record and trajectory of international collaborations;
  • evidence of a strong publication output and research grant income;
  • a proven ability to supervise RHD students; and
  • demonstrated ability to work within a research environment/group.

Academic Level B - $92,574 to $109,933 per annum.

Academic Level C - $113,403 to $116,877 per annum.

Plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
